My wife and I were in Dublin, Ireland, and had the opportunity to attend the Lord Mayor’s Ball to celebrate the Centennial of Dublin. After dinner, a group of us men visited the men’s room. As I exited the men’s room, a friend introduced me to Tony Blair. I had no idea who he was. He was in a tuxedo, I was in a tuxedo, and our waiter was in a tuxedo. When Mr. Blair left the conversation, he walked over to a woman who took his arm, and they walked towards the ballroom. The woman was wearing a stunning necklace made with blue hue diamonds that I’m sure would cost more than I would make in three lifetimes; Mr. Blair was an important man. In my own defense, this was before Tony Blair became the Prime Minister of Great Britain.
Jesus spoke of his followers as being the bride of Christ. Since that night in Dublin, it often strikes me that those who don’t know the Lord look at us to get an idea of who Jesus is, and each time I think, Oh God, I think I’m blowing it.
- Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.
- Love your neighbor as yourself.
The more I do those two things, The more the people I encounter will recognize who Jesus is. Boy, I need to change.
